Hotter than Satan's Mixedtape

HI. HAPPY SUMMER, Y'ALL. 


The most important thing for anyone to know is that they are a child of God. 
Ill prove it. When Satan tempts Christ he says "IF you are the son of God." 
In 3Nephi Giddianhi's persuasive letter to Lachoneus he explains that if they deny who they are they won't be destroyed. 
That same type of thing happens to Joseph Smith in Carthiage. And his whole life. There is so much evidence everywhere you look that proves denial is so much more precious to Satan than destruction ever could be. The denial that YOU are a son or daughter of the creator of our universe. That fact has more power attached to it than any other fact you'll ever find. So much power in fact that it is the very first thing we tell people in lessons. The very very first teaching point says "God is your father in heaven and he loves you." HE LOVES YOU. And whether you believe that or not.. or even in a God, it's still true. And there nothing you can do to change that.

I've been praying to better understand how I can be the best missionary. Y'all are familiar with the good better best "scale" ? (Keep that in mind whilst I tell this story.) Friday night sister chaudoin and i both got the strong impression to visit this lady named carissa what lives on the 10th floor of our building. She just aged out of the YSA (young single adults) ward and into the MSA (mid single adults) ward. We got her flowers and brownies and such. When we got to her door she was obviously ignoring us. But God told us to be there so we kept knocking. She eventually came to the door and was embarrassed because of her obvious rough patch. We sat with her a while and talked and read scriptures etc. She felt as if her purpose in life ended when she came home from her mission. While assuring her that wasn't true the spirit told me that this was the best place for us to be right then. Sister chaudoin and i could've been anywhere in our area talking to people or teaching lessons. But God surely loves all his children and wanted Carissa to know He was listening. We weren't there to give her all the answers, there's no way we could've. That job is for the spirit. I love this aspect of missionary work! It's not a numbers/ baptism game, it's a love game!! God wants his missionaries to be with the members and non members and everyone inbetween! YAY! :)  

The 4th was FUN! I mean.. it was a pretty normal teaching/ proceliting day.. and most the people were accross the river in actual DC.. but the energy was fun!! Sister chaudoin and i watched the famous DC fireworks on the roof of our building!! :) it was a blast.   

We talk to SO many people from all around the world!! I LOVE IT. I got the whole world in my hands (area) lol.

Good News!!

Good news, our birds are still eating the food we leave out for them on the balcony. We have a blue jay and a crow that are regulars. no big deal. Also good news, IM STAYING IN CRYSTAL CITY WITH SISTER MINAKER FOR ANOTHER SIX WEEKS  this week we gathered some nuts that had fallen off a tree and ended up along the road in the gutter. We cracked them and tried boiling them. I don't know what our end goal was.. but it didn't work. Advice: leave the gutter nuts, they are very bitter. We met a man on the fourth floor... last door (haha)!! He met with missionaries in Korea but lost contact when he moved back to America. WELL HELLO, MIRACLES! There is a part of preach my gospel where a recent convert expresses how when he found the church it filled a hole in his heart/life that he didn't know was missing. That's the best way I can explain how being on a mission feels like. I have found a piece of me I didn't know was missing. Life right before leaving was so wonderful...

I LOVE YOU

Before I left on my mission I was worried about the work coming off as "here, let me tell you how to live your life." I hate that feeling. (Degrading advice?) But what I've realized, and what is so beautiful about this gospel, is that when people are wanting to change the teachings, the truths, the testimonies, they all have a spirit of love. People realize and feel that we are here helping them because of love. Not because our way is better than their way. But because they have tried their way & through personal trials they have realized that the only way is God's way. Missionaries teach God's way. And help our heavenly father's children understand His way. This work is so worth it, always, but especially when the people thank us for helping them get closer to Christ. (-alma 5:26) Alright!! I must tell y'all about Sam Sayem. We met him two weeks ago. I haven't mentioned him yet because I didn't want to take attention away from Brother Farraj and Megan!   WELL, SAM IS AWESOME. I met him on an exchange. He and his wife were getting their groceries and going into the house. They really didn't seem that interested. But God knows the heart because the next day my real companion and I were in that same apartment complex. We saw a man sitting in his car, so naturally we go wave him to roll down his window so we can talk to him (perks of being a sister). It was Sam!! He says "I read your pamphlet.
