A little Bias 7/30/18

Image
Ima be completely honest. It takes a lot of self control not to climb all the beautiful trees here.  When "atheists" want to become Mormon..  (Okay, Abdul is obviously not atheist anymore I just find it funny that's what he claimed when we met him.) It's true. Miracles happen. In our lesson with Abdul this week HE brought up baptism and asked how that process works. (Which was convenient bc we were about to lead into it anyway. #thespirit) Honestly, I am so amazed with this guy. And the spirit. And how it has been working with him little by little since he was born. AH GOD IS SO GOOD. #ondate :')  Perhaps a slight bias will be detected in the next paragraph.. I have the best area. Ever. Hahaha I'm not kidding. Walking around and finding people is the best ever because we will start on one block with people living in million dollar homes & literally the next block over will be "the hood." (I love them both for different reasons) And mixed in are p...

Wet Toaster Part 2

No mail yet. Zone conferences are  this Thursday  so hopefully we will get it then. *fingers crossed also interviews!!! SO EXCITED I LOVE PRESIDENT CAPLIN. We had to drop our lyberian friend James. He is getting baptized in another church where he feels more comfortable. It's hard because... the spirit testifies of truth so he still feels the spirit in that church.. and he doesn't understand the apostasy or preisthood. We tried so hard. And the thing is, God is going to keep putting missionaries in his path. He would be an amazing mormon. On the drive home from his house I cried. Really hard. The full truth is being handed to him and he doesn't get it. Slap in the face. Face book. Well. I've been trying to be more patient with it because it was created for the hastening of the work. I get that. But if we are being completely honest when a young girl randomly dms you on Facebook messenger... ugh idk how to even explain this But I've gotten asked on 5 dates thi...

Wet Toaster

A wise woman I know by the name of sister modersitzki described Virginia to be a "wet toaster" and i promise, you could think for years and not come up with better adjectives to describe how it feels walking around at  2:30 PM  in July with garments on. Last weekend we met a young man in the park named Abdul. (He's from Ghana, in VA for school) When we met him he was very skeptical, claiming to be an atheist, but continued to pose questions he had been pondering for a while! So  on Saturday  when we met up with him again (exactly  one week later !!) He apologized for saying he was an atheist and admitted to the idea of a God making sense. MIRACLE. Then he came to church!! MIRACLE. And he loved it!! He texted us later that night and said he felt a lot of peace whilst attending the classes. And hearing from the bishop. *cries (To be continued...) There are a few things in this world that never get old. BYU vocal points album "lead thou me on" (2012) is one of thos...

Hotter than Satan's Mixedtape

Image
HI. HAPPY SUMMER, Y'ALL.  The most important thing for anyone to know is that they are a child of God.  Ill prove it. When Satan tempts Christ he says "IF you are the son of God."  In 3Nephi Giddianhi's persuasive letter to Lachoneus he explains that if they deny who they are they won't be destroyed.  That same type of thing happens to Joseph Smith in Carthiage. And his whole life. There is so much evidence everywhere you look that proves denial is so much more precious to Satan than destruction ever could be. The denial that YOU are a son or daughter of the creator of our universe. That fact has more power attached to it than any other fact you'll ever find. So much power in fact that it is the very first thing we tell people in lessons. The very very first teaching point says "God is your father in heaven and he loves you." HE LOVES YOU. And whether you believe that or not.. or even in a God, it's still true. And there n...

What a wild 10 days. I saw a lightening bug. So pretty much my life is complete.  Leaving the MTC was actually really sad. And it was even sadder to say goodbye to Sister. Modersitzki.  Sunday  night's devotional was crazy awesome!! All 12 apostles were there and Elder Cook gave an amazing talk!! The spirit was crazy strong! Great note to leave on! We met our new mission president!! He is AMAZING! And so is his wife!! When arriving in Virginia late  Monday  evening we met the mission President and stayed in a hotel that night.  Tuesday  morning we met our trainers! Sister Caudoin is her name. AND I LOVE HER. She and her last companion worked really hard to build up the area so I have had a lot of people to meet and lessons to teach!! :) Blessed. One of out gators, Allie, has been looking into the church for a long time and she is very knowledgeable. We were able to fast for her yesterday and the spirit was so strong in the lesson we gave he...
