Family Ward

A bonus of moving to a family ward: babies and mom hugs

Fort Belvoir is fantastic. God says "Sister Smith, here is all the peace you need to feel about being here. Focus on growing love for the new friends." Awesome! Every day is a day of miracles and that has not ceased here in the fort. I love living on Earth. I love it more and more each morning. 😁

Our sweet friend Kevin got baptized on Saturday! It was a beautiful afternoon. Later that evening we split taught his parents. Sister Clark taught his mother whilst I taught his father, Juan. Juan has been talking to missionaries on and off for 10+ years. During our conversation he explained to me that Friday night he had a dream where God told him he needs to get baptized! (First time ever admitting this out loud) He said "I am already converted in my heart, I have been, but I must wait for my other half to be ready because I will not do this without her." :') And on Sunday in gospel principles the lesson was on eternal families. God is in the details, my friends.

A wise woman (my sister) once told me, talking about missions, that God asks us to give up our family, our friends, what we wear, what we eat, when we eat, where we live, who we live with, who we talk to, when we shop, where to drive, what to drive, our comfort, literally everything. But he never asks us to give up who we are. (Told ya she was wise.)
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient is the day unto the evil thereof. -Christ (3 Nephi 13 & Matthew 6)
These four scriptures have really come to life in the last 6ish months. There is a great contrast to the peace & joy I feel in the days when my first priority is the people/ how to help them vs something temporal. God always takes care of us. I promise He is taking care of you.

Have a very merry Christmas break :):)
Peace and blessings.

Much Love, Sister Izzy Smith
