JESIKA SIS MOD ETHIOPIA AND BIRTHDAY WISHES














I just want to say thank you so so much for all the birthday wishes!! 💛 This life is about loving and I definitely feel loved by all the friends at home and in the mission! TWENTY YEARS ON THIS BEAUTIFUL PLANET! I just love earth so much (especially with the cherry blossoms right now!!) I get amazed our existence keeps getting better after this. This truly is the plan of happiness. 

Remember our good friend John from Ethiopia? He didn't make it to church last week and he had a pretty good reason why. He works night shifts at 7-11 and his store got robbed! When the police came John didn't have his ID so they took him to jail. AH! But no worries, it all got worked out! And he wants to get baptized! God has a pretty perfect plan for us and watches out for us always! 💛

Our good friend Jesika is amazing. Our lesson this week went a little like this.. (give or take) 
"JESS! Did you read the book of mormon these past few days??" (Not a fantastic track record with keeping commitments.)
"sisters, I've been pranking you....I've always been reading the book. I like to keep it a secret when I do what you ask. I know it's true. I really want to get baptized and God thinks April 26th is the day. I am planning on bringing my book of mormon to my mother this week to share with her. And Elliot (her husband) will come to church this Sunday. He doesn't work Saturday or Sunday. (He came!) And guess what else! Since I've been reading I've been happier and I've had more time to clean my house!" 
Is your jaw at the floor yet? Mine was. The church is so true. 

Sister Modersitzki and I had MLC meetings this week with President Bennett, president of the North America North East area! Inbetween sessions we left to get some dinner, before our dinner hour started we walked around the Wal-Mart parking lot sharing scriptures with our eternal siblings. We then met this sir named Jerod. He has been searching for truth and has defaulted to YouTube for his source haha. We offered him a better source to find truth, the Book of Mormon! :D Then he took us to panda express and we taught him. It was such a miracle from the God almighty to teach with my girl Sister Mod. Still got that comp unity from the MTC! :')

The next statement may or may not be biased: THIS IS THE BEST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD TO BE A MISSIONARY!!!!!!  
Whenever you are feeling discouraged just remember.. WE KNOW WHO WINS! And it's not satan! Jesus Christ is coming soon, my friends! Take heart! 
"And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise." -Mormon (Moroni 7:41)

Good News!!

Good news, our birds are still eating the food we leave out for them on the balcony. We have a blue jay and a crow that are regulars. no big deal. Also good news, IM STAYING IN CRYSTAL CITY WITH SISTER MINAKER FOR ANOTHER SIX WEEKS  this week we gathered some nuts that had fallen off a tree and ended up along the road in the gutter. We cracked them and tried boiling them. I don't know what our end goal was.. but it didn't work. Advice: leave the gutter nuts, they are very bitter. We met a man on the fourth floor... last door (haha)!! He met with missionaries in Korea but lost contact when he moved back to America. WELL HELLO, MIRACLES! There is a part of preach my gospel where a recent convert expresses how when he found the church it filled a hole in his heart/life that he didn't know was missing. That's the best way I can explain how being on a mission feels like. I have found a piece of me I didn't know was missing. Life right before leaving was so wonderful...

I LOVE YOU

Before I left on my mission I was worried about the work coming off as "here, let me tell you how to live your life." I hate that feeling. (Degrading advice?) But what I've realized, and what is so beautiful about this gospel, is that when people are wanting to change the teachings, the truths, the testimonies, they all have a spirit of love. People realize and feel that we are here helping them because of love. Not because our way is better than their way. But because they have tried their way & through personal trials they have realized that the only way is God's way. Missionaries teach God's way. And help our heavenly father's children understand His way. This work is so worth it, always, but especially when the people thank us for helping them get closer to Christ. (-alma 5:26) Alright!! I must tell y'all about Sam Sayem. We met him two weeks ago. I haven't mentioned him yet because I didn't want to take attention away from Brother Farraj and Megan!   WELL, SAM IS AWESOME. I met him on an exchange. He and his wife were getting their groceries and going into the house. They really didn't seem that interested. But God knows the heart because the next day my real companion and I were in that same apartment complex. We saw a man sitting in his car, so naturally we go wave him to roll down his window so we can talk to him (perks of being a sister). It was Sam!! He says "I read your pamphlet.
