July 1
It's 8:15 on a Friday evening, the hot, humid air is finally cooling down. The sunset begins to turn to brighter pastels as the moments pass. Lightening bugs sporatically blink across the grass floor. And the park bench you're sitting on, as you & your companion share the sure answers to life's biggest questions, is beneath a willow tree.
How can you not feel the spirit?
So extremely blessed to have another summer spreading my greatest joy to my brothers and sisters here in Virginia. Makes me cry.
My favorite miracle from this week is a man named Amer. We met Amer as he was driving away, but once he understood we were here to talk about Christ he quickly pulled into a parking spot to give us his full attention. Amer was born a Christian in Jordan. Because Christianity is the minority in his country all the Christians had to stick together. When he arrived in the states, many years ago, he was surprised to find that different Christians were separated by terms like "Lutheran" or "Baptist" etc. He went church shopping for years but never found what he was looking for. WELL, this Sunday he and his son, Leo, came to church! His reaction was "Sister! I feel the same way here as I did in my country when we were so united as Christians! I'll definitely be coming back!" THE CHURCH IS TRUE!
If you ever feel like you're just "going through the motions" KEEP GOING. Sometimes the motions of reading scriptures, saying prayers, going to church etc get tedious and seem inconsequential. That's a lie from Satan. Keep pushing forward and your heart will come back around!
Here is my 4th of July scriptures! I know that true freedom and true liberty comes through Jesus Christ alone!
(2 nephi 26&27) And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are REDEEMED from the fall they have become FREE FOREVER, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given. Wherefore, men are FREE according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are FREE to choose LIBERTY and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil;
Have a safe independence day!
