I LOVE YOU

Before I left on my mission I was worried about the work coming off as "here, let me tell you how to live your life." I hate that feeling. (Degrading advice?) But what I've realized, and what is so beautiful about this gospel, is that when people are wanting to change the teachings, the truths, the testimonies, they all have a spirit of love. People realize and feel that we are here helping them because of love. Not because our way is better than their way. But because they have tried their way & through personal trials they have realized that the only way is God's way. Missionaries teach God's way. And help our heavenly father's children understand His way. This work is so worth it, always, but especially when the people thank us for helping them get closer to Christ. GAH,  THIS IS THE BEST.

Whilst on exchanges this week...
I was in the YSA area right next to mine with mah girl Sister. Wayment. We had a lesson with someone she is teaching named Alfred. This was by far the funniest lesson I've ever been a part of. This Alfred guy was a wild card. He started the lesson asking why we get called "sister" we explain we are all brothers and sisters and its a title while on a mission. He says "well I want a title! Why cant I be called brother?" "You can be called brother!" "WAIT. ROAD TO DAMASCUS!! IM CHANGING MY NAME! FRED! CALL ME BROTHER FRED! hi, nice to meet you, i'm brother fred." *shakes our hands* We were trying to teach him the restoration we get to the first vision, right? (Me) "I saw a pillar of light.." (Brother. Fred) "OH MY GOODNESS! JESUS CHRIST WAS A TWIN!?"
I honestly don't know how else to explain this lesson but I've been laughing about it for two days.

If you're curious how I/ missionaries feel every day read these beautiful words written by alma (31:34) O Lord, wilt thou grant unto us that we may have success in bringing them again unto thee in Christ. (35) Behold, O Lord, their souls are precious, and many of them are our brethren; therefore, give unto us, O Lord, power and wisdom that we may bring these, our brethren, again unto thee.

Much Love, Sister Izzy Smith ðŸ’›
